As we live in a high-performance culture, we need to find strategies to sustain performance. Just like in sports, it is not possible to be at a high pace throughout a race. Being conscious when to push and when to relax is critical for a sustaining career and to prevent burn-out.
To do so successfully, I believe that the right mindset is fundamental to balance out the pressure with leisure. Acknowledging when requiring times come up and when to take breaks is key. In my experience meditation is a great tool to focus within and realize what is needed.
In general, balancing this performance-pressure with healthy lifestyle habits (not only meditation, but also sleep, nutrition, movement) is a way to sustain the performance in the long-run. The current movement of marathon runners, yogis and supplement-companies proves the need for such lifestyle choices.
Sometimes it helps to reflect certain developments with peers & partners, to get a new perspective. I think that coaching is a great tool to act on those reflections, in case you want to initiate lasting change.
